Male 68.

Would you agree that his subconscious is hard at work on the forgiving and acceptance he must achieve?

Title:

The Judge

Dream: The Judge

My husband, age 68, has been very ill for over five years.  We have been doing some mental/emotional housecleaning, hoping to help him regain his good health.  Last night he dreamed he was having a civil discussion with a robed male judge concerning swords - their shape, qualities, materials, etc.

Interpretation

Your husband's dream is about his nature. The dream is asking him to be less judgmental and points to the fact that he judges things based on their technical qualities and material value. He would also tend to do this with himself (i.e. be overly critical of what he has / has not achieved when he works on something). The sword represents anger and the fact that the judge is male indicates that all this is picked up from dad.

In essence the dream is asking him to be more tolerant (civil) of himself. This will help his quality of life.

Dreamer's Comment on the Interpretation

Thanks for your insight.  The being kinder and less judgmental to ones self seems right on target.  And to realize the strength and smarts he does have.  But I don't think the "Dad" part can be correct. My husband is a carbon copy of his dad in that he does not complain, etc.  I never heard a judgmental word from his Dad.  But I do think my husband judges others and himself more than he should.  I think that turns on him.

A point to consider
On my courses I often hear people say, "I'm not judgmental - I always look for the good in people". But that is being judgmental too. To be non-judgmental means take people (and yourself) exactly as they are - both good and bad traits.
