Healing My Finger?
Dupuytren's Contracture

April 04, 2017

Sometime in 2003, I damaged the little finger on my left hand. At least, at the time, I thought I did. Over the course of about 3 years, my little finger closed over like it was gripping something invisible until it was flat against the palm of my hand. Who Are You?
And Why Are You Here?

February 08, 2017

Note: This was my opening in a 90 minute talk given at Wisdom Soup Bellevue Meetup on February 7, 2017. Video of the event may follow.

I had to research my own city to answer them and to find places of interest to bring them. They opened my eyes, or more accurately, they showed me that my eyes were shut to what was in front of me all my life. When I was 27 my eyes were opened even further.

My Mother's Passing
What Happens When We Die

December 27, 2016

This is an account of what I witnessed during my mother's passing. It is one year ago today that my mother passed away. Living 4,500 miles away, I was lucky to have visited her three months earlier, in September. I hadn't seen her in four years at that point, and frankly, I was afraid she wouldn't be around by the time I could afford a trip home. She was her usual witty self. At 93, her body showed the signs of wear, but her mind was still strong Ė most of the time. As I said goodbye on my last visit before returning to Seattle she hugged me and said with sadness, ďI will never see you again Michael!Ē We both knew it could be true, but I didnít expect either of us to say it. I put on a brave face, but was choking up. The water works started as soon as I sat in my car.
